Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

A week of Lean and Six Sigma tools, practised on real problems until they click. Taught by Rishi Malhotra through the University of Nevada, Reno since 2017, with more than 1,000 students certified.

Who it’s for

Supervisors, managers, engineers and analysts who own a process and want to improve it. The class draws from machine shops and aerospace plants, hospitals and clinics, and public agencies. Most come with a problem in mind and leave with a plan to fix it. No statistics background is needed; we work through every calculation together.

What you’ll learn

Format

Five days and 35 hours in the classroom, taught through University of Nevada, Reno Extended Studies, or on-site at your company, where we tailor it to your industry and your own processes. Hands-on throughout: a kaizen simulation, worked calculations and a charter of your own, reviewed one-on-one with Rishi. UNR certifies on-site students on the same terms.

Dates, times, fees and location are listed by UNR Extended Studies, where registration also runs.

Outcomes

You leave with a Green Belt certificate from UNR, a draft charter for a real project, and a first step to take on Monday. In October 2026, every participant named something they would lead next: a kaizen event, a 5S project, a visual factory, a pull system or a Gemba walk. Green Belt is also the prerequisite for our UNR Black Belt.
