Oregon Reproductive Medicine

Oregon Reproductive Medicine — known since its 30-year anniversary in 2019 as ORM Fertility — was founded in Portland in 1989 by a single reproductive endocrinologist treating patients out of one clinic. Across the next three decades it grew, on the unglamorous arithmetic of repeated successful cycles, from that one physician and that one clinic into one of the most-cited fertility centres on the American west coast: seven locations in the Pacific Northwest, California, Israel, and China; an in-house genetics laboratory; and a Donor Egg Programme that has matched recipients across forty countries and every US state.

The clinic provides the full range of reproductive medicine — in-vitro fertilisation, egg-freezing, donor-egg matching, embryo genetic testing, third-party reproduction including surrogacy, and the related diagnostic and counselling services — through a network of physicians, embryologists, geneticists, and counsellors operating from the Portland headquarters and the satellite clinics. ORM is one of relatively few American fertility centres to have built an integrated genetics team in-house rather than outsourcing pre-implantation genetic testing to a third-party laboratory.

What distinguishes Oregon Reproductive Medicine in its sector is the combination of clinical scale, geographic reach, and operational integration. American fertility care is, in most metropolitan areas, a fragmented set of small physician-owned practices; ORM is one of the centres that took the opposite path, building a multi-clinic, multi-disciplinary operation under a single clinical and operational standard. In March 2022 the firm joined Pinnacle Fertility, the United States’ fastest-growing physician-centric fertility-care platform, and now operates as part of that network while retaining its clinical identity and Portland headquarters.
