NWPX Infrastructure

Manufacturing · Founded 1966 · Vancouver, Washington · Listed Nasdaq: NWPX · Formerly Northwest Pipe Company

Northwest Pipe Company was incorporated in Vancouver, Washington in 1966 as a manufacturer of large-diameter steel pipe for water-transmission projects on the American West Coast. Six decades later, having grown into the largest manufacturer of engineered water-transmission systems in North America and diversified into a full precast-and-fabricated infrastructure portfolio, the firm renamed itself NWPX Infrastructure, Inc. in June 2025 to reflect the broadened category — the Nasdaq ticker remained NWPX. The firm operates thirteen manufacturing facilities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and supplies the metallic and concrete infrastructure that carries American water, wastewater, and storm systems from the treatment plant to the tap and back.

The firm operates through two reporting segments. Engineered Steel Pressure Pipe — the historical core of the business — designs, manufactures, and coats large-diameter steel water-transmission pipe, steel casing pipe, bar-wrapped concrete cylinder pipe, and the joints, fittings, and pipeline-system hardware that go with them. Precast Infrastructure and Engineered Systems — the diversification arm — manufactures reinforced-precast concrete water and wastewater components, lined sanitary-sewer systems, pump and lift stations, wastewater-pretreatment equipment, and stormwater-quality treatment products. The two segments together give NWPX a presence across both the metallic and the cementitious sides of American water infrastructure.

Two things distinguish NWPX among North American water-infrastructure manufacturers: the sector position — largest engineered-water-transmission manufacturer on the continent — and the deliberate breadth of the product portfolio. The firm covers both the large-diameter steel pipe that carries raw and treated water at municipal and inter-basin scale and the precast concrete components that manage sanitary and stormwater flows at the neighbourhood scale, a range that lets a single firm quote across both halves of a municipal water-utility procurement. The 2025 rename to NWPX Infrastructure formalised that positional shift: the firm is no longer only a pipe manufacturer, and the new name says so.
